Greenberg not fond of Home

Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg gave Sony’s Home service the ultimate cutdown by comparing it to the horror that is Second Life. Oh yeah, he also said it’s outdated by a couple of years.

“What Home to me feels like is Second Life for hardcore gamers,” he said. “It doesn’t feel like it broadens the experience and invites people in. When they unveiled it, it seemed innovative. I think what has happened is now here we are a couple of years later and we feel beyond that. It feels like 2005 tech in 2008. I’m not sure that’s what people want.”

That’s not a very nice thing to say, Greenberg. However, you have described exactly how I feel about Home so I’ll let it slide. Besides, how much fun would it be if the competition had nice things to say about each other?

We’ll get to see how the rest of the gaming world feels about Home with its launch today, but personally, every screenshot I see of it seems to be one big advertisement which isn’t very appealing.

Greenberg is one of the executives of the big three that I like. He’s funny and he almost always speaks his mind.
