Final Fantasy XIII trailer released, 2010 never seemed so far away

The first of many Final Fantasy XIII countdowns has come to an end, and with it comes a gorgeous trailer. I recently mentioned my lack of hype for a game so far away, but after watching the trailer, it’s really hard not to get pumped for FFXIII. The trailer actually shows some gameplay, which looks a bit hectic and exciting – something necessary for modern RPGs.

Oddly enough, it features many robot-like beasts I so angrily ranted about recently, but Square-Enix defied all odds by making them look good. In fact, most of the ones in the trailer look organic.

Aside from that, the futuristic setting is a nice change of pace. The painful part comes with the realization that this game is a long way off. However awesome this latest trailer may be, it won’t be long before I’m left pondering why the hell I should be excited just yet. I have little doubt that upon release, FFXIII will be great. But by the time it releases, it’s setting might actually be a representation of the present.

Looks pretty damn awesome. Frame rate wasn’t up to speed but that will obviously be fixed.

I’m surprised how great it looks during gameplay.

I can’t wait for this one to come out. The trailer looked very good, and as you said, the futuristic setting will be a nice change of pace. Sort of like the modern, industrial, technological aspects of FF7, only enhanced.

I’ll definitely be picking this one up when it comes out, albeit a long way from release.
